Assembly Rooms Robot Demonstration

Author: Thomas
Date: 18th April 2006

On Tuesday 11th April a group of Young Engineers from Peebles High School took a trip to the Assembly rooms in Edinburgh. They were there to show off the drill robots that won the UK robotics compitition. An arena had been set up for them, all that was needed was the robots and people skilled enough to control them.

After setting up and doing some quick maintenance to the robots we had a few test matches while waiting for the press to arrive. We were waiting a while, as none turned up for what seemed like an age. We did eventually get some photos taken and hopefully a press release on the drill robots will be printed somewhere.

Even though the day wasn't as productive as we'd hope it to be, and the robots started breaking down one by one as our matches progressed, we all still had a really good time. At the end we wandered around to check out the other cool gismos that were in the rooms. We also had some really nice pastries and we worked as an efficient team throughout the event.
